Contributing to Concord Branch EF and CEF Scholarship Funds
Our branch has, from the earliest years, supported a two-fold scholarship program--local scholarships plus contributions to the Association for fellowships. Our branch members have always felt that both local scholarships and post graduate work have equal importance.
AAUW's Educational Foundation (EF), which is a tax-exempt and not-for-profit organization, supports the oldest and largest non-university fellowship fund for women on a national level. Our branch contributes funds each year to EF.
In an effort to make all of our scholarship contributions tax-deductible, steps toward the establishment of a non-profit foundation to support our local scholarships were started in 1982. The Concord University Women's Education Foundation (CUWEF or CEF) was established in 1985, and became an IRS 501(c) exempt organization in 1987. Association approval was given in 1983.
By setting up CEF, we have been able yearly to award funds both locally and to Association.
Funds for the support of EF and CEF come from the following sources:
-
Donations and contributions
-
Entertainment Book Sales: These books offer special discounts on food, travel, movies sports, shopping and more in the bay area and nationwide. Sales take place in the fall.
-
49er Games: Our members join with those of other local branches to staff a concession stand at the 49er home games.
Sound like fun? It's a good way to spend the day, enjoy the company of some really great people and earn dollars for our scholarship program.
Call Ronni Collmer (827-1815) if you'd like to join in the fun.
